As an amateur actress for many years, and since I moved to Langhe, seven months ago, it is with nostalgia and sadness that I had to leave and say goodbye to my super company « Giro di Vite » with a comedy in progress: « The Servant » by Carlo Goldoni.
After a few months settling down and adapting to my new home and to my new beautiful village, I began to feel nostalgia and an urge to acting again. One day I suddenly decided look for a new troupe on the Fita website (Italian Federation of Amateur Theatre), which, for me, was as a guarantee.
I first wrote to the president who also happened to be a member of the company. Then I decided to call the company named « The courts of fools ». I immediately felt attracted and seduced by its name.
In this case, even if we are out of Langhe’s district and even if Fossano (the capital of the company), is neighboring, I thought it still deserved an article. In addition to that, there is not much written about amateur theatre.
When I called for the first time, Cristina was immediately very friendly welcomed, she spontaneously invited me to attend the rehearsal of one of their numerous plays, in preparation: « Moby Game ».
As soon as I arrived in the theatre, I was impressed by the cordiality and the warmth with which I was welcomed, as an actress and a spectator. On month later, I saw the play: fabulous, fast-moving, a bit mad just like the name of the company. The public was also enthusiast and never bore.
But « The court of fools » is not only about humor. The company also offers dramatic plays such as « The Last Hour » which was awarded a special prize at the « Concorso Nazionale Zona Franca in Ascoli Piceno. This play was written from studies about the death penalty methods and stories from American inmates.
This company is also very proud of their play « Partners in crime », winner of many awards at the Gold curtain 2014 in Rovereto (TN) for best actress, best actor, best direction and best performance it was also selected for the 46th edition of the national award Macerato Theater.
« The Court of fools » is also the organizer of many theater festivals such as « Dialettando », « Summer at theater », « Fossanoir », and of competitions such as Folle d?oro (Gold mad) whith the award Giovanni Mellano.
Needless to say that to their generosity, their enthusiasm and the quality of their work, I am very eager to become a member of this company.
